The Fifth Element ๐Ÿ’Œ of Great Internal Newsletters

Recently, we talked about the four essential elements every successful internal newsletter program shares according to Recess.io customers.

I also shared that there is a fifth.

A fifth essential element that you’ll definitely want to keep in mind when developing you internal marketing strategy. Keep scrolling ๐Ÿ‘‡

  1. ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ They publish every week on the same day

No matter how big or small the update, our most successful customers hit send every week.

People feel more connected when they have a sense of common purpose.

Consistency is a part of that. Having a set day when your team knows to expect a weekly update is one of the most important things you can do to boost employee trust, engagement, and satisfaction.

In fact, leaders tell us that they have dedicated time blocked off on their calendar for this. The impact is that great.

That’s not all to say that it has to be manual work for the CEO every week. A lot of this can (and should) be crowdsourced. There is always something to share with your team if you know what you are looking for.

In addition to what I shared before, here are some examples of what our customers’ teams love to see in their inboxes every week.

  • Customer Stories
  • Updates on OKRs or Big Rocks
  • Events and Employee Programs Available
  • New Hires & Staff Spotlights
  • Personal Milestones from people on the team

The truth is that this is just a small sample of what we’ve heard. Take a moment right now and try to identify three things you might add to the list.

What are they? Shout us out on Twitter @heyrecess and let us know.

Since we started, our goal at Recess has been to help teams ๐Ÿงข rally around shared goals, wherever they happen to be. Over the last couple of months, we have been focused on enhancements to make our internal marketing platform work better for all our new and future customers.

In the process, our product team made a surprising time-saving discovery that might just surprise you. I’ll tell you more about that soon.
